Alaskan Boat Harbor Painting
I painted this while I was in Kodiak Alaska, a townof about 7000, primarily a commercial fishing town. Typically there was a morning mist coupled with a little fog being right on the ocean. In Alaska, the sun is at a lower angle which causes a more violet hugh to an almost pinkish color (called "alpenglow"). To get these effects,I made my own rubber stamps of pine trees using sheets of foam and a woodburning tool,a really fun technique. I've always loved boats and there reflection on the water, and I've supplemented my income by painting the names and logos on many of the commercial fishing vessels in Kodiak. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it. "Alaskan Boat Harbor" 18x24 original $ 900. limited edition prints (250) signed/numbered $95.
